Recently Sushi is very popular in many countries. There are many Japanese Sushi restaurants, but the Sushi is different from that found in Japan . For example, in New Zealand they don’t like to eat raw fish, so they use cooked chickens, vegetables, beans. It is not real Japanese Sushi, so by making this post, I want every one to know what real Japanese sushi is.
There are different kinds of Sushi in Japan . It depends on the locality. The most common is called "Nigirizushi". It was originally produced in Tokyo . Nigirizushi consists of small oval-shaped balls of rice seasoned with vinegar and sugar and topped with a thin slice of fish or shellfish or small sliced omelet. The fish is mostly raw but sometimes cooked. Usually wasabi is spread under these slices. They are eaten lightly dipped in soy souce. And sometimes slices of pickled ginger are served on the side as a condiment. Other examples of less popular kinds of Sushi are rolls, pressed Sushi, Chirashizushi, Inarizushi. Because Nigirizushi is so pervasive outside of Japan , most people living abroad are not familiar with these later types of Sushi. So that is real Japanese Sushi. If you have a time, please make and try it !!
My friends also write about Japanese foods. Yumi wrote about Tempura, Susu wrote about Okonomiyaki. Please check them.
