I went to New Zealand (NZ) for two months in 2011, and I had lovely days here. NZ is located in the southern hemisphere. So when Japan has winter, NZ has summer. The area of NZ is about 268.000 Km2. Japan is about 377.000 km2. It is not a big difference, but the difference in population is big. NZ’s population is only 4 million. On the other hand, the population of Japan is about 130 million. There are over 10 million people in Tokyo alone. That means, there are 2 and 1/2 times more people in Tokyo alone than in all of NZ.
While I was staying in NZ, I went to an intermediate school which is a junior high school, as a Japanese teacher. I taught Japanese and Japanese culture to 10~12 year olds. They are so nice and cute. I really enjoyed teaching and talking with them. Because they asked me many questions about me and Japan every time. I stayed at Tracey’s house. She was my host mother. She is very kind. And her 2 year old son is so cute. He always kissed me. Her husband is also kind. He is a pilot, so he told me some interesting stories about his flights. I was very glad to have such a nice host family. Two months was too short for me. I wanted to stay there more, so I promised to everyone that I met to go back to NZ soon. I hope I can fulfill my promise.
